## Summary

Maidstone Borough Council is procuring two cremators for Vinters Park Crematorium, together with installation, removal of the existing equipment and a maintenance package. This is a specialist crematorium equipment and installation requirement, with ongoing servicing support. The work will be delivered at Vinters Park Crematorium in Maidstone. The contract combines the supply of cremation equipment with installation works and maintenance services, so it may suit suppliers able to provide the equipment and manage its installation and subsequent upkeep.

The council invited offers through an open procedure. The deadline for questions was 2 November 2026 at 12:00, and offers were due by 9 November 2026 at 12:00. The anticipated award decision date was 7 December 2026. The estimated contract value is £3.6 million excluding VAT (£4.32 million including VAT). The initial contract period runs from 4 January 2027 to 3 January 2032, with the maintenance term eligible for extension in reducing blocks of five, four, three, two and one year, up to 3 January 2042. There is one lot. Award is weighted equally between cost and quality, each accounting for 50%.

The requirement is suited to suppliers with experience supplying cremators and carrying out specialist installation and removal of existing cremation equipment. The successful supplier will also need to provide maintenance support after the installation, making this relevant to businesses able to sustain a long-term service relationship as well as deliver the initial works. The council identifies the opportunity as suitable for small and medium-sized businesses and voluntary, community and social enterprises. Suppliers able to combine equipment provision, installation and ongoing maintenance may be particularly well placed to address the full scope. The value and extended maintenance potential make this a substantial, long-duration requirement for firms with the technical capability and operational capacity to deliver crematorium equipment works and service support.
