## Summary

Chobham Parish Council is seeking a contractor to maintain its burial ground in Chobham, Woking. The work covers routine groundskeeping and horticultural services (CPV 77300000): weekly litter and bin clearance, removal of discarded flowers and debris, upkeep of shingle paths and car park, and seasonal mowing and strimming. It also includes weeding cemetery boundaries and areas beneath trees, clearing autumn leaves, levelling graves with topsoil and seed, and periodic path-edge, hedge and surface maintenance. The contractor must remove all arisings from the cemetery. Grounds also include benches, which require cleaning and teak oil treatment. The location is Chobham; the work is for the parish council’s burial ground and associated entrance, pathways and car park.

The council invited tenders through an open competition below the procurement threshold. Bids were to be submitted by hand or post in a sealed, clearly marked envelope to the Parish Office at Chobham Recreation Ground, Station Road; email submissions were not accepted. The submission deadline was 23 October 2026 at 5pm. The contract period runs from 16 November 2026 to 31 December 2029. The estimated value is £36,000 excluding VAT (£43,200 including VAT). There is one lot. Evaluation considers price and business quality, with quality assessed through references; distance from the site also contributes, and the price is expected to be competitive.

This is suited to grounds-maintenance and landscaping businesses able to provide regular cemetery care across weekly, monthly and seasonal tasks, alongside annual hedge cutting, path and surface repairs, and grave levelling. The contractor must supply its own machinery and tools, remove green waste and other arisings immediately, and hold the insurance required for work on public grounds and its staff. A capable bidder will need to work safely in line with applicable health and safety law, report any injury or property damage promptly, and tell the council administrator about difficulties completing the specification. The council may meet the contractor on site to discuss issues. Small and medium-sized businesses are considered suitable. References and proximity to Chobham matter in the assessment, favouring experienced providers able to demonstrate reliable delivery and practical local coverage.
