## Summary

Great British Energy - Nuclear plans to procure archaeological investigation and mitigation services for development of the Gwyndod project on Anglesey. Work is expected across the remaining main site areas, associated development land and other off-site land if required. The scope may include archaeological evaluation and trial trenching, excavation, strip-map-and-sample work, palaeoenvironmental assessment and analysis, plus post-excavation assessment, reporting, publication and archiving. Delivery will be phased around programme needs, access to land, consents and interfaces with other site activities. The supplier will provide appropriately qualified staff and manage fieldwork and associated outputs. This is a specialist archaeological services requirement, with work centred on Anglesey.

The process is at planning: Great British Energy - Nuclear has stated an intention to procure, but has not issued an invitation to tender. The procurement is expected to be divided into one lot and suitable for small and medium-sized businesses. The anticipated contract period runs from 8 July 2027 to 7 July 2028, with a possible extension to 7 July 2029. The buyer expects to publish a further notice by 24 February 2027. Market engagement is planned, with draft requirements and background material expected to be available from 10 November 2026. Interested suppliers are asked to review these materials and respond to the engagement questionnaire by 27 November 2026; access requires a mutual non-disclosure agreement. Dates and requirements remain indicative and may change.

This is likely to suit archaeological consultancies and contractors able to plan and deliver multi-phase field investigations on a major development site. Relevant expertise may include archaeological evaluation, trial trenching, excavation and strip-map-and-sample work, alongside palaeoenvironmental assessment and analysis. Suppliers should be equipped to manage suitably qualified field teams, coordinate work around site access, consents and other activities, and produce the full post-excavation outputs: assessment, reporting, publication and archiving. The single lot is expressly considered suitable for SMEs, which may make it relevant to smaller specialist providers as well as larger firms. The planned market engagement gives suppliers an early chance to examine draft project requirements and provide feedback while the buyer develops its procurement strategy; it is preparation and consultation, not a bid stage. No specific accreditation or experience threshold is stated here.

## Notice

Great British Energy-Nuclear (GBE-N) intends to procure archaeological investigation and mitigation services to support development of the Gwyndod project in Anglesey. The requirement is expected to cover the remaining main site areas (Phases 1-4), associated development areas and other off-site land where required. Services may include archaeological evaluation and trial trenching, excavation, strip-map-and-sample activities, palaeoenvironmental assessment and analysis, and associated post-excavation assessment, reporting, publication and archiving. Services will be delivered in phases, with activities sequenced to reflect programme requirements, land access, consents and interfaces with other site activities. The supplier will be required to provide suitably qualified resources and manage the delivery of fieldwork and associated outputs in accordance with the detailed requirements issued by GBE-N. Please note that the information included within this UK2 notice is indicative and subject to change.

### Planning Information

Market engagement for this potential procurement is being undertaken to provide prospective suppliers with early access to the draft project requirements, preamble, Bill of Quantities (BoQ) and background information, and allow GBE-N to gain valuable market insight at this stage of strategy development.
The draft documents will be made available from the 10th of November 2026 through GBE-N’s Jaggaer eSourcing portal under Prj_7081 – Archaeology Investigation and Mitigation.
Suppliers wishing to participate in the market engagement and access the draft documentation should complete the following steps:
1. Register on the Jaggaer eSourcing portal (https://beisgroup.ukp.app.jaggaer.com/) as a Supplier, if not already registered. For assistance with the registration or access process, please contact holly.allaway@greatbritishnuclear.uk
2. Enter into a Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) with GBE-N - Suppliers should express that interest to participate, and provide the name and contact details of their authorised signatory to holly.allaway@greatbritishnuclear.uk. The NDA will then be issued for signature via DocuSign.
3. Access the market engagement documentation - Once the Mutual NDA has been executed by both parties, the supplier’s Jaggaer account will be granted access to PSQ_146 – Data Room for prj_7081 Market Engagement. The relevant documents will be available within the ‘Attachments’ section of the Pre-Selection Questionnaire (PSQ). (Please note, this PSQ has been created purely for market engagement purposes and is NOT a tender opportunity).
Participating suppliers are requested to review the draft documentation and submit their responses to the market engagement questionnaire linked in the 'Background Information' document by the 27th of November 2026.
