In 2020 Monmouth was the first UK town to be named a "bee town" because of its and the community's work in making the town pollinator friendly therefore any contractor will be required to operate on this basis. Monmouth Town Council takes the quality of the environment very seriously and is committed to providing attractive Bee Friendly Sustainable floral displays in and around the town centre and surrounding areas all year round. The Council may at a future time enter the Wales in Bloom and any local Monmouthshire in Bloom competitions; therefore, all flowers and displays must be creative and contain sturdy plants.
