An award has been made by Neath Port Talbot Council for the following requirement:-Background:The Countryside & Wildlife Team (C&W Team) of Neath Port Talbot Council (the Council) have chosen three disused sites to repurpose into mini nature reserves as part of our Stepping Stones nature reserves project. This project intends to restore disused areas of grey into new green areas for biodiversity, allowing local communities to have greater access to, and interact with their local biodiversity. The project is funded through the Local Places for Nature fund.Project Overview:To remove areas of tarmac and fencing and replace that with 4 Inches of nutrient poor subsoil. Each site has specific requirements, on some sites the tarmac will be used to create mounds for hibernacula, with an additional layer of subsoil to cover these mounds. All waste material will be removed from site.Project Timescales:Scheduled to be completed by December 2021.
