## Summary

The Isle of Anglesey County Council is initiating the "Red Wharf Bay Flood Alleviation Scheme," a procurement process aimed at enhancing flood protection in Anglesey, UK. Currently in the planning stage, the project is categorised under 'works' and has an estimated value of £1.75 million. Interested contractors must express their intent by 21st December 2021 and can find more details on associated documents available through the council's website. The project is expected to break ground in March 2022 and run until March 2023.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in construction, civil engineering, and flood defence systems. Given the nature of the works required, companies with expertise in designing and implementing coastal infrastructure, as well as those experienced in managing projects of a similar scale, will be particularly well-suited to compete. Engaging with this project could not only enhance a company's portfolio but also establish lasting relationships with local authorities in flood risk management initiatives.

## Notice

A major flooding event occured in December 2013, and the smaller events in the 2013-2014 winter period saw flooding in Traeth Coch (Red Wharf Bay) not seen for many years. The coastal wall did little to prevent seawater inundating the properties along the frontage, with businesses and residential properties being flooded. The grassed area, and the coastal road were both also flooded, and in many places, the wall is breached by high tides and stormy weather on an almost annual basis. The Traeth Coch (Red Wharf Bay) Sea Defence Scheme will aim to protect the community from a 1 in 200-year coastal flooding event.
