The North Wales Wildlife Trust is currently engaged in the procurement process for "The Upper and Middle Dee Invasive Non-Native Species Management Project: Survey Corwen to New Bridge," with the process initiated on 13 April 2022. This tender falls within the services category and aims to address invasive non-native plant species in North Wales, between Corwen (Denbighshire) and New Bridge (Wrexham). The tender submission period ended on 6 May 2022, and the award period concluded on 13 May 2022. The procurement method employed is open, and it encourages participation from micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, as well as volunteer organisations across the UK.

Companies with expertise in identifying invasive species and developing biosecurity measures will find themselves particularly well-suited to compete, given the project's focus on creating a comprehensive management strategy for invasive plant threats. The emphasis on collaborative proposals, including public-private partnerships, further broadens the avenue for innovation and business growth within this sector.

## Notice

The North Wales Wildlife Trust's (NWWT) Upper and Middle Dee Invasive Non-Native Species Management Project aims to survey and manage the invasive non-native plant species Himalayan balsam (Impatiens glandulifera), Japanese knotweed (Fallopia japonica), American skunk cabbage (Lysichiton americanus), and Giant hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum) between Corwen (Denbighshire) and New Bridge (Wrexham), North Wales. Invasive species are one of the main drivers of biodiversity decline globally. The environmental, economic and social impact of invasive species in Wales will continue to grow unless they are managed with a sustainable and joined-up approach. The work outlined within this tender will complement invasive species management already undertaken by NWWT working in Upper Dee area (Bala Lake to Corwen).NWWT wishes to appoint an organisation to work with us to survey and map the occurrence and density of the aforementioned invasive plant species to facilitate the development of a management strategy in the Middle Dee (Corwen to New Bridge).Preference will be given to proposals which address one or more of the following:A proposal which clearly demonstrates the ability of the organisation to correctly identify invasive non-native species. The organisations ability to produce professional map layers showing location and density through GIS software which can be easily interpreted and utilised by NWWT staff, volunteers, and contractors.Demonstrate a robust biosecurity strategy to prevent the spread and/or introduction of invasive non-native species by field staff conducting surveys. We invite applications from enterprises across the UK, within a priority for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (as defined by Welsh Government) or volunteer organisations. The successful organisation will need to deliver:An outline of the survey strategy aims and objectives agreed by the NWWT INNS Project Officer. This should include:An Ethics Statement and/or GDPR statement if applicable.A comprehensive Risk Assessment including biosecurity.Collection of data through the agreed methods with the NWWT INNS Project Officer.Analysis of data.
