## Summary

The North Wales Wildlife Trust is currently undertaking the UMDIM Project: Himalayan balsam management from Carrog to Rhewl, which involves managing an invasive plant species along the River Dee in Denbighshire. This tender is classified under the services category, with an open procurement method. The tender process concluded on 19th July 2022, and the subsequent award was formalised on the same day. Interested parties were provided with contact details for further inquiries, specifically through Hannah Everett, Cotoneaster Project Officer, who is based at the Trust's office in Bangor.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses focused on environmental management and invasive species control. It is particularly suited for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises as well as volunteer organisations, reflecting a preference for streamlined, sustainable approaches to biodiversity management in Welsh ecosystems. Companies involved in ecological restoration or environmental services may find great value in participating in such initiatives, fostering growth while contributing to vital conservation efforts.

## Notice

The North Wales Wildlife Trust's (NWWT) Upper and Middle Dee INNS Management project (UMDIM) aims to manage the invasive non-native plant species Himalayan balsam on both banks of the river Dee between Carrog, (SJ 11529 43710) and Rhewl (SJ 17328 42542), Denbighshire. Invasive species are one of the main drivers of biodiversity decline globally. The environmental, economic, and social impact of invasive species in Wales will continue to grow unless they are managed with a sustainable and joined-up approach. The work outlined within this tender will complement invasive species management already undertaken by NWWT's North Wales Resilient Ecosystem Pilot Project (NWREPP) working in Upper Dee area.NWWT wishes to appoint an organisation to work with us to manage the invasive non-native plant species Himalayan balsam, to facilitate the development of our management strategy of controlling invasive non-native species in the River Dee Catchment which has been running for over a decade.
