## Summary

The North Wales Wildlife Trust is currently overseeing a procurement process for the UMDIM Project, focused on Himalayan balsam control in the Wenffrwd Nature Reserve up to New Bridge in North Wales. This tender is classified under goods and is currently at the award stage, with the contract having been signed on 19th July 2022. The tender's submission period ended on 19th July 2022, and the location specified is North Wales. Interested suppliers were required to submit their bids during this timeframe, as the project is supported by the Nature Networks Fund and facilitated by the Heritage Fund on behalf of the Welsh Government.

This tender presents a prime opportunity for businesses specialising in environmental management and ecological services, particularly micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, as well as volunteer organisations, given the expressed priority for such entities. Companies with expertise in managing invasive species, ecological restoration, or environmental consultancy will find this contract aligns with their services. Furthermore, as biodiversity conservation becomes increasingly critical, successful participation in similar future contracts can significantly enhance a firm's profile and contribute to business growth in the environmental sector.

## Notice

The North Wales Wildlife Trust's (NWWT) Upper and Middle Dee INNS Management project (UMDIM) aims to manage the invasive non-native plant species Himalayan balsam on both banks of the river Deebetween Wenffrwd Nature Reserve (SJ 23423 42327) to New Bridge (SJ 26807 42049), North Wales. Invasive species are one ofthe main drivers of biodiversity decline globally. The environmental, economic, and social impact of invasive species in Wales will continue to grow unless they are managed with a sustainable and joined-upapproach. The work outlined within this tender will complement invasive species management already undertaken by NWWT's North Wales Resilient Ecosystem Pilot Project (NWREPP) working in Upper Deearea.NWWT wishes to appoint an organisation to work with us to manage the invasive non-native plant species Himalayan balsam, to facilitate the development of our management strategy of controlling invasivenon-native species in the River Dee Catchment which has been running for over a decade.
