## Summary

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership-Procurement Services (hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust) is inviting tenders for a project titled "Changing the Way We Deliver Emergency Care". This initiative falls under the health industry category and is focused on innovative technologies to enhance pre-hospital care. The procurement is in the tender stage with key dates including the tender period ending on 17 March 2023. The project aims to deliver care closer to home using solutions such as Point of Care Testing, wearable technology, and mobile scanning equipment. The awarded contract is valued at £225,000. The delivery location is across the UK, with a focus on supporting patient care, improving communication, and ensuring patient safety.

This tender offers substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in health technology, emergency care solutions, and innovative diagnostic tools. Companies with experience in deploying rapid-results testing, wearable health monitors, or mobile medical equipment are well-suited to compete. The focus on enhancing emergency care at home or during community waits aligns with the demand for impactful, technology-driven solutions, particularly within the Welsh population. Consortia are also encouraged to collaborate, providing comprehensive solutions to address high-demand areas such as falls, respiratory problems, and chest pain management in pre-hospital settings.

## Notice

We would like to invite industry to enable us to provide care closer to home. Innovative solutions are sought to enhance one (or more) of the themes: - Improving capabilities in the pre-hospital setting that can enable patients to be cared for closer to home. This could include Point of Care Testing (e.g. blood tests with rapid results), wearable technology solutions and mobile scanning equipment; and - Use of technology to support patient care, enhance communication and improve patient safety during initial diagnosis or in cases of prolonged community waits for an ambulance or 111 response, or awaiting an urgent appointment at a place definitive care".

### Lot Information

Lot 1

We are looking for solutions that will provide a positive outcome, high-impact for the population of Wales. In particular, demand for ambulance/Urgent and Emergency Care services is high for: - People that have fallen - patients that have been on the floor for a significant amount of time (long lies); - People experiencing respiratory problems - especially acute exacerbations of chronic conditions; - People experiencing chest pain - where the nature of the pain cannot currently be confirmed in the pre-hospital setting. There are many diagnostic solutions on the market. This challenge aims to bring solutions together to develop an ambulance sector solution for use in the pre-hospital environment.
