## Summary

NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership-Procurement Services, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust and based in Cardiff, has completed the procurement stage for upgrading Building Management Systems (BMS) at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCU) West sites. The contract, awarded on 3rd August 2023, encompasses essential upgrade works on obsolete systems controlling heating, hot water services, and ventilation at multiple sites including Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bryn Beryl Hospital, Eryri Hospital, and Ysbyty Alltwen. Honeywell Building Solutions, a large-scale supplier, has been awarded the contract valued at £160,909 under a limited procurement method without prior publication of a call for competition, as per the Public Contracts Regulation 2015. The procurement follows a negotiated procedure due to technical reasons, ensuring compatibility with existing Honeywell software.

This tender provides significant opportunities for businesses specialising in building management systems, particularly those equipped to handle large-scale upgrades and maintenance in healthcare environments. With the growing emphasis on energy efficiency and advanced control systems, companies with expertise in these areas will find the project beneficial. Given the requirement for software compatibility and technical complexity, businesses with a strong track record in dealing with specific technical specifications in public sector contracts, especially within the health industry, would be well-positioned to compete. The successful implementation of such projects can enhance a company's portfolio and credibility in the public procurement market.
