The Council would like to hear from organisations who have experience of and are committed to providing person centred, inclusive support to ensure that vulnerable people are treated equally, have control over their own money and are able to achieve financial independence. The purpose of the Support and Advice Service is to provide independent advice and practical help to vulnerable adults, their families and other unpaid care providers, who are known to social services, with day-to-day money matters. For clarity the population groups are adults with a learning disability, adults with a physical impairment, adults experiencing mental ill health and older people. The service promotes the financial independence of vulnerable adults who have care and support needs. The service to each individual is appropriate to their financial management needs and in line with the principles set out in the Mental Capacity Act 2005.

The Council would like to hear from organisations who have experience of and are committed to providing person centred, inclusive support to ensure that vulnerable people are treated equally, have control over their own money and are able to achieve financial independence. The purpose of the Support and Advice Service is to provide independent advice and practical help to vulnerable adults, their families and other unpaid care providers, who are known to social services, with day-to-day money matters. For clarity the population groups are adults with a learning disability, adults with a physical impairment, adults experiencing mental ill health and older people. The service promotes the financial independence of vulnerable adults who have care and support needs. The service includes: (but not limited to): It is imperative that you can deliver 'ALL' aspects of the service: Assigning an advocate (officer) to everyone, using the service, who will be responsible for supporting the individual with all financial matters that are needed by them. Act as an Appointee. Act as a Deputy. Act as a Power of Attorney Make Applications to the Court of Protection and act within the Court of Protection Judgments. Liaising with the individual and keeping them informed about their financial affairs including payments of service users' expenditure from each individual's accounts. Please provide a brief outline of your service (to include the imperative aspects highlighted above), your experience, the number of people you are or have provided this service to. This would demonstrate your organisation is in a position to meet all our requirements. Could you also provide details of your person-centred approach to providing financial advocacy services.
