## Summary

Natural Resources Wales is planning a procurement process titled "Derelict Vessel Removal in Wales" in the services category. The organisation is seeking information from potential contractors on methods for removing small-to-medium size vessels while minimising impacts on protected areas. The deadline for responses is specified in the notice to inform a marine licence application and future contract delivery in early 2024.

This tender offers business growth opportunities for contractors providing vessel-salvaging services and marine conservation strategy planning. Companies capable of removing derelict vessels in compliance with environmental regulations and best practices are well-suited to compete. Engaging with this tender can lead to potential future contracts with Natural Resources Wales, allowing businesses to showcase their expertise in marine operations and waste disposal.

## Notice

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) plan to procure a Contractor(s) to deliver derelict vessel removal including (but not limited to):- Removal of vessels that could either be floating, lightly aground, hard aground, sunken in shallow water or partially buried in mud - this should preferably involve the use of a crane stationed on a hardstanding adjacent to the area where vessels are present.- Following requirements of a marine licence, and all best practice guidance when working in sensitive and/or protected areas of land and sea (these should be consulted with the contract manager and appropriate NRW staff who will be able to provide advice).- Vessel survey for hazardous waste prior to, and during, the removal operation.- Appropriate disposal of vessels and any other waste collected during the operation, including any hazardous waste (NRW may appoint a separate contractor to carry out this part of the requirement if appropriate, depending on the contract needs). The contract is anticipated to be delivered in early 2024, with a possibility of similar contracts being required again in late 2024 and beyond depending on NRW needs.NRW is looking to engage with the market. The purpose of this notice is to seek information from the marketplace in relation to the capacity to carry out this potential future contract opportunity. This is to inform the method statement section of a marine licence application required prior to the contract commencing. It will also inform the procurement strategy ensuring that any procurement route subsequently selected is attractive to the marketplace and will provide a competitive tendering environment for efficient delivery of any future contract requirements. The information we are looking for is detailed in the "Additional Information" section of this notice.Contractors should note that this notice does not constitute any guarantee or work, it is purely for market research purposes.NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at https://www.sell2wales.gov.wales/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=135645.
