## Summary

Denbighshire County Council, a Unitary County Council located in Ruthin, north Wales, has completed the award stage for a public procurement focused on woodland creation across council-owned land. The tender, titled "Woodland creation on council owned land – trees," falls under the goods category, specifically for tree-nursery products and trees, as classified by the CPV codes 03450000 and 03452000. The procurement process sought competitive quotations for supplying a total of 15,762 trees to support the council's initiatives towards achieving Net Carbon Zero by 2030. The contract was awarded to Heathwood Nurseries, with the contract officially signed on the 23rd of January, 2024. This initiative aligns with Denbighshire’s broader strategy to combat climate change and enhance ecological positivity, with funding support from the £800,000 UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The procurement followed an open method, concluding its tender period on 27th November 2023 and the award period on 15th December 2023.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in the cultivation and supply of tree-nursery products, particularly those capable of fulfilling large orders of mixed broadleaf species. Companies with expertise in sustainable practices will find this contract especially appealing due to the Council's commitment to environmental initiatives. Moreover, the opportunities are not only confined to large suppliers; smaller firms with expertise in specific or niche tree species that promote biodiversity could also benefit by partnering with larger entities or through subcontracting arrangements. The emphasis on environmental and ecological objectives also creates a platform for businesses offering innovative sustainability solutions to stand out in the competitive bidding process, thereby promoting business growth in the green economy sector.
