## Summary

Glynneath Town Council is overseeing the Glynneath Welfare Park Transformation Phase 1, a significant redevelopment project aimed at enhancing community facilities in Neath Port Talbot. The project falls under the works category, focusing on refurbishing existing play areas and tennis courts, as well as creating a new Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) and a playground for children up to 11 years old. The procurement process, initiated through an open tender method, reached the award stage on 1st August 2024, with Sutcliffe Play Limited being awarded the contract valued at £800,000. Key stakeholders involved include County Councillor Simon Knoyle and NPTCBC Project Development Officer, Eloise Stanton. The tender period ended on 31st May 2024, with the contract signed on 19th June 2024, ensuring timely progression of the project.

This redevelopment project stands as a prime opportunity for businesses specialising in landscaping, playground, and park equipment supply to engage in a high-value contract backed by the local government. Companies involved in constructing and refurbishing sports facilities and play areas will find this project well-suited to their expertise. Moreover, the involvement of community consultations underscores the project's alignment with local expectations, enhancing the prestige and visibility for the contracted businesses. The opportunity for consortia bidding also allows smaller firms to collaborate and participate effectively, fostering business growth through strategic partnerships.

## Notice

The redevelopment of Glynneath Welfare Park has been identified as the top priority for investment following numerous community-focused consultation exercises. The Park falls under the custodianship of Glynneath Town Council (GTC) who would be the client in this instance. The project is being driven forward by the Council with support from County Cllr Simon Knoyle (Town and County Councillor), NPTCBC Officer, Eloise Stanton (Project Development and Funding Officer, NPTCBC), and PLO Ceri Willcox (Town Clerk, GTC), who will be the main points of contact for the project as a whole. There is currently one existing play area with fixed equipment adjacent to the tennis courts; this is to remain an area for fixed play apparatus and will cater for children and young people aged 11+.Presently, there are four tennis courts. The Town Council would like to refurbish three of the courts for tennis, with the fourth being converted to a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) for football, netball and basketball. The area currently occupied by a disused bowling green will be repurposed into a play area, with the focus being on providing a play space for children from early years to primary school age (up to 11 years of age).Further information and documents are found in this notice and at: https://glynneathtowncouncil.gov.uk/welfare-park-transformation/
