## Summary

The Hywel Dda University Health Board, based in Carmarthen, UK, has recently completed the procurement process for the "Assisted Discharge Low Level Community Support (Pembrokeshire)" service. This contract, categorized under Health (COFOG classification), involves providing non-regulated care services aimed at expediting early hospital discharge and preventing unnecessary admissions. It leverages third-sector intermediate care services to support individuals in their homes. The procurement followed an open procedure, with significant dates being the tender period closing on 24 May 2024 and the contract awarded to Volunteering Matters, an SME, on 1 October 2024, for a total value of GBP 258,354.15.

This tender presents substantial business growth potential, particularly for organisations specialising in healthcare support services, community care, and third-sector service providers. Businesses capable of providing comprehensive, person-centred care that addresses the broader determinants of wellbeing, such as social isolation and financial hardship, would be well suited to compete. The collaboration required with existing services like the Welfare and Falls Rapid Response and Home Adaptations to Support Hospital Discharge Services, underscores the need for providers with strong community ties and flexibility in operations. The contract's focus on leveraging volunteers and substantive staff indicates opportunities for organisations proficient in volunteer management and community-based support services.
