## Summary

The Welsh Government has awarded a contract for research exploring the embedding of a whole-school approach to emotional and mental well-being (WSAEMWB) to Strategic Research And Insight Ltd. The procurement process, categorised under research and development services, was focused in Cardiff, with the contract being signed on 13th September 2024 for a value of £99,895. The award stage has been completed, and the project's primary objective is to identify actions that educational settings can take to effectively embed WSAEMWB, with considerations given to overcoming barriers to delivery. Key stakeholders, including school communities and children, will be engaged through qualitative methods like interviews and focus groups conducted in either Welsh or English.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses specialising in educational consultancy, research services, or those with capabilities in executing qualitative research. Companies operating in the fields of social research or development consultancy within the education sector would be well-suited to compete in similar future tenders. The open procurement method and clear eligibility criteria make it accessible for consortia bidding, providing an ideal way for businesses to leverage collaborative expertise to deliver comprehensive and impactful research.

## Notice

The aim of the research is to identify key actions that schools and education setting can take to effectively embed a whole-school approach to emotional and mental well-being (WSAEMWB) ((available at: https://www.gov.wales/framework-embedding-whole-school-approach-emotional-and-mental-wellbeing) and the support that can help settings to overcome barriers to delivery. To achieve the aim, it is anticipated that the study will involve primary qualitative research in the form of interviews, focus groups, and / or workshops with a range of stakeholders: officials supporting settings to embed a WSAEMWB (e.g., implementation coordinators), school stakeholders, children and young people, as well as other members of the school community where appropriate (e.g., parents). All aspects of the fieldwork should be undertaken in Welsh or English, in accordance with the language choice of participants.
