## Summary

Bridgend County Borough Council has concluded a procurement process for a Written Welsh Translation Framework (Title: B896), focusing on providing translation services under the industry category of Translation Services. The framework aims to ensure compliance with the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011, which mandates Welsh to be treated no less favourably than English. The procurement process proceeded through an open procedure and covered services to be delivered within Bridgend (Region: UKL17). The contract was awarded on 18th October 2024, with the procurement process initially entering the tender stage on 8th July 2024 and concluding the tender period on 8th August 2024. The contract will run from 1st October 2024 to 30th September 2026, with options for renewal.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in translation services, particularly those capable of meeting bilingual requirements. Both large enterprises and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) participated, with the framework awarded to ten companies, including Bilingual Cardiff - Cardiff Council, Bla Translation Ltd, and several SMEs like Ioan Rhys Davies and Testun Cyf. The framework agreement's call-off process allows for ongoing opportunities for these services, offering a chance for sustained business growth. This procurement is particularly suitable for businesses specialising in high-quality translation services looking to expand their public sector clientele.
