## Summary

The Vale of Glamorgan Council has awarded a contract for "The Engine Room Transformation Project" to Kingfisher Developments (Wales) Limited, valued at £1,085,638.57. This project, located in Barry on the Barry Waterfront's Innovation Quarter, involves substantial construction and refurbishment works including redesigning the main entrance, developing communal spaces, and upgrading the surface car park. This initiative aims to create a modern, flexible workspace to support the growth of local businesses. Key dates include the signing of the contract on 17th September 2024, and the procurement stage has reached the Award as of 11th October 2024, following an open procurement method process that commenced prior to June 2024.

This tender presents significant business growth opportunities, particularly for construction firms that specialise in refurbishment and architectural services. The emphasis on creating a state-of-the-art business centre offers local contractors a chance to contribute to a high-profile project that promotes local economic development. Businesses with expertise in construction, architectural design, and building completion, especially those that can offer innovative solutions and sustainability measures, would find this project aligns well with their capabilities and services. The development of the communal and business spaces aims to attract and nurture indigenous businesses, providing a strategic advantage for companies directly involved in the project.
