## Summary

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership-Procurement Services, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, has concluded an award for the purchase of three tugs for their Waste Management Team. This contract falls under the industry categories of goods and repair and maintenance services, related to health and social work services. The procurement process, initiated as a tender, aims to replace ageing electric tugs used for daily waste transport at the University Hospital of Wales and the University Hospital of Llandough. The contract was signed on 5th January 2024, with the award amounting to £80,338.77. The supplier selected for this contract is John Bradshaw & Son Ltd, based in Manchester.

This tender provides businesses specialising in electric vehicles, particularly those focused on waste management solutions, a significant opportunity to collaborate with the NHS. Companies capable of providing durable and efficient tugs that can operate in healthcare environments stand to benefit. The procurement encourages business growth by reducing the costs associated with leasing and maintaining outdated equipment, creating a demand for innovative and reliable suppliers in the transport equipment sector. Given the high stakes involved in maintaining operational efficiency in health environments, businesses with robust products and dependable service support will find this tender highly suited to their capabilities.

## Notice

The Waste Department within Cardiff and Value University Health Board (C&V) have been looking to replace 3 of their current electric Tug fleet which are reaching end of life. The tugs are used daily around the University Hospital of Wales and University Hospital of Llandough to transport wheelie bins from around the site to the relevant disposal location. The purchase of the vehicles would allow the department to save costs on the hire of leased vehicles as well as the high costs of repair for the older vehicles.
