## Summary

NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership (NWSSP) - Procurement Services has contracted St John Ambulance Cymru for a "Clinical Support Hub Mobile Resource Pilot" aimed at aiding the Clinical Support Hub (CSH) in managing patients across regional areas within Wales. This contract, valued at £180,000 and signed on 28 October 2024, facilitates the provision of medical support mobile units to alleviate winter pressures, with operations expected to commence in mid-November 2024. The procurement process was a limited procedure without prior publication, based on St John Ambulance's proven capability. The pilot covers three CSH regions—Vantage Point House (East), Thanet House (West), and Ty Elwy (North)—and will run for 12 months involving two specially equipped vehicles for North and West Wales, operational during weekends and Bank holidays.

This tender creates significant opportunities for businesses in the healthcare services sector, particularly those specializing in medical transport, mobile healthcare solutions, and urgent care support. Companies with capabilities in providing trained medical personnel and innovative healthcare delivery systems will find this tender beneficial for expanding their services. The structured evaluation component at the end of the pilot offers a potential for future long-term contracts, providing stability and growth prospects for established healthcare providers. Engaging in such projects allows businesses to demonstrate their capacity to deliver essential healthcare services under urgent and high-demand conditions, reinforcing their market position and expertise in handling comprehensive patient care schemes.

Weighing patients 5. Patient transport to UPC base 6. Support to pull cases from the 111 PEQ (stack) 7. Support direct admission 8. Patient follow up to monitor /update observations The proposed pilot will cover the three CSH: Vantage Point House (East), Thanet house (West), and Ty Elwy (North), with two cars for North and West Wales to take account of the geography, thereby covering the whole of Wales. The service would be in place for 10 hours per day on Saturdays/Sundays and 8 hours on Bank holidays.

### Procurement Information

The support offered by St John's has already been tried and tested by WAST and Health Boards and the offer can be flexed to include the management of falls in line with a Falls Response Framework and associated pathways if appropriate. St John's has capacity to provide 2 vehicles along with the equipment and personnel who have the medical training, qualifications and capability to run a 12 month pilot scheme which is anticipated to commence mid November 2024 in time for supporting winter pressures.
