Initiated by Swansea University, this project falls under the construction work category, specifically building installation and completion work, as per CPV classifications. Located in Swansea, the tender process was completed, and the award stage commenced, with the contract signed with John Weaver (Holdings) Limited on 4th June 2025. The tender was published as an open process with a tender period ending on 10th January 2025. Key dates include the award announcement on 27th January 2025.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for construction companies, particularly those specialising in building renovations and upgrades. Companies able to manage a live construction environment while prioritising safety would be best suited for this project. With the University aiming to enhance its facilities to meet higher standards, businesses that excel in innovative design and efficient project management would find this opportunity lucrative. Engaging in this project could expand a firm’s portfolio and establish valuable connections within the university sector.

## Notice

A survey across campus has identified various areas in need of improvement, in particular the WC's. In several areas they are not up to the standard required by the University, and are affecting the perception of the institution by Staff, Students and visiting members of the public. With this in mind a programme of upgrading works has been proposed to hit the areas in the most need of improvement. It is the intention of the Client to appoint a Principal Contractor to take the designs through to completion and to accept the full design liability for the projectThe sites are spread across two buildings, two campuses, Grove and Bay Library. Each of these buildings have a different role within the campus and have their own individual challenges.Grove is one of the large teaching spaces on Singleton Campus, generally dealing with teaching Medical students. The facilities are located on the First Floor, in close proximity to large teaching spaces and have original fixtures from when the building was constructed.Bay Library is one of the main student spaces on Bay Campus. The facilities are heavily used and the level of use has resulted in the facilities in desperate need of upgrading. The Principal Contractor will be expected to contribute to each of the tasks set out below in Draft Deliverables, in order to meet the needs and perceptions of the University.During any works it must be stressed that all areas around the sites will remain live and the protection of non-construction personnel is of the highest priority.
