## Summary

Transport for Wales, located in Pontypridd, UK, has completed its procurement process for a Bus Network Design System, which will enhance the operational functions of its Customer Journey and Bus Network Development teams. This initiative, categorised under the public transport industry, employed an open procurement method. The procurement process involved awarding the contract to Via Technologies Europe B.V., and the contract, valued at £902,533.09, was signed on June 24, 2025. The procurement covered remote delivery, with the industry classification indicated as goods under CPV code 48000000, and the relevant activities were set to be covered by the GPA agreement. The finalisation of the contract marked the award stage of this procurement process, which facilitates infrastructure design and franchise operations across various transport networks in Wales.

The tender for the Bus Network Design System presents significant opportunities for business expansion within the transport technology sector. Companies involved in network planning, scheduling systems, and real-time information technologies, especially those with solutions for multimodal transport systems, could find valuable prospects. This system aims to integrate ticketing solutions, data management, and accessible real-time customer systems. With quality being a primary criterion, accounting for 70% of the evaluation, alongside competitive pricing making up the remaining 30%, organisations offering innovative and price-competitive solutions were positioned well to compete. Small and medium-sized enterprises as well as larger firms with expertise in transport data systems had the opportunity to partake in this tender, which includes future possibilities for network enhancements and integrates with other datasets for a comprehensive transport analysis.
