## Summary

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership-Procurement Services, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, has been awarded a contract for the "Provision of Medical Care into His Majesty's Prison (HMP) Cardiff." This award is under the Health Services (Provider Selection Regime) (Wales) Regulations 2025, employing the Most Suitable Provider Process. The procurement concerns the services industry, classified under CPV code 85100000. The primary location for service delivery is HMP Cardiff in the UK, with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board acting as the decision-makers. The contract, effective from 25th June 2025, is set for a period of 720 days, valued at £838,000. The procurement was conducted without prior publication under a limited procedure due to existing service repetition and specific local needs.

This tender presents significant business growth opportunities for companies specialising in healthcare services, particularly those with expertise in providing general medical care within secure environments such as prisons. With the emphasis on integrated care and continuity for detainees, businesses with a robust local infrastructure and familiarity with the South East Wales region are well-positioned to compete. Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) like ROATH HOUSE SURGERY, the successful supplier, could leverage their existing capabilities and local connections to deliver superior services, ensuring compliance with NHS goals for integrated health solutions. The contract also allows for hybrid and remote medical services, catering to establishments that can effectively implement telehealth innovations.
