## Summary

Vineyard Church Cardiff has awarded a contract for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) as part of their ongoing efforts to enhance sustainability at The Gate Arts Centre, Cardiff. This initiative falls under the goods category and is classed within the Electricity, Heating, Solar and Nuclear Energy sector. The procurement process reached the award stage on 13th February 2026, with Inspire Green Ltd securing the contract. The BESS will offer 41 KWh of energy storage and incorporate a three-phase AC/DC power conversion system, optimised for interfacing with the existing solar PV array to ensure maximum self-consumption. Negotiations and tender invitations were open from September 2025, culminating in a tender period that closed on 3rd October 2025, highlighting the streamlined approach taken by the Vineyard Church Cardiff.

This successful tender award poses considerable opportunities for businesses specialising in renewable energy and energy storage technology to invest and further innovate within the green energy sector. Businesses with certifications such as MCS and NAPIT, and those capable of providing solutions that integrate with solar PV systems, are especially well-positioned to compete in similar tenders. With an increasing focus on sustainability, procurement contracts like these offer avenues for growth and partnerships, contributing to a wider adoption of energy-efficient technologies in the public sector.

## Notice

Vineyard Church Cardiff are seeking tenders for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for their main site, The Gate Arts Centre, Cardiff. The BESS system must provide 41 KWh of energy storage, and 5 kW per phase (15 kW) and include a three phase AC/DC Power conversion system coupled to the site's local three phase supply. It must interface with our existing solar PV array such that site self consumption is maximised. That is, surplus PV energy is automatically stored in the BESS rather than being exported to the grid, and the BESS is the preferred source for local electric load over grid electricity. Whilst generally in self-consumption mode the BESS must simultaneously be capable of programmed timed charges aligned with times of cheaper electricity tariffs.
