## Summary

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership-Procurement Services, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, is in the award stage of a contract titled "Insourcing of Radiographers". The contract involves the provision of radiographers to perform MRI scans using mobile MRI units for the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. This tender falls within the health industry category, and its delivery extends to Cardiff, servicing the UK region. The procurement process was executed through a limited method, specifically the Provider Selection Regime Wales, which bypassed the usual competitive call for competition. Key dates include the contract signing on 16th December 2025, with a standstill period ending on 29th December 2025. The total value of the contract amounts to £436,800 GBP.

This tender offers substantial business growth opportunities for service providers in the healthcare sector, particularly those specialising in radiography and medical diagnostics. Given its focus on insourcing radiography services, businesses that supply mobile radiography units or have competent radiographers can expand their operations by participating in such government contracts. SMEs like Jennie Reeves Radiographers Agency Limited, which was awarded the contract, demonstrate the potential for smaller businesses to successfully compete, suggesting that providers with similar capabilities could leverage such opportunities. The contract supports the efforts of the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board to enhance diagnostic capacity, thereby improving patient outcomes and reducing waiting times. Businesses capable of offering quality healthcare services or expanding the reach of medical technology in public health settings may find similar tenders advantageous for entering or strengthening their position in the public procurement market.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

This contract relates to the provision of insourced radiography services to support the delivery of MRI scanning across mobile MRI units owned by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (CAVUHB). CAVUHB is one of the largest NHS organisations in Europe, employing approximately 17,000 staff and providing healthcare services to over 472,000 residents across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, in addition to delivering specialist services to the wider South and Mid Wales population. The contract operates under the Clinical Diagnostics and Therapeutics Clinical Board, which comprises seven directorates responsible for delivering a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures at local, national, and UK-wide levels. These services form the foundation of most clinical activity across the Health Board. CAVUHB owns and operates two mobile MRI trailers that can be deployed across various Health Boards in Wales. Currently, one trailer is in use at Morriston Hospital and the other at University Hospital Llandough as part of an ongoing agreement. The service, delivered through the Radiology Department, continues to support efforts to reduce patient waiting times.
