## Summary

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership-Procurement Services, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, is set to award a contract for the Provision of Paediatric Dental General Anaesthetic Service. This procurement focuses on delivering essential anaesthetic services within the Swansea Bay University Health Board area, due to in-house capacity limitations. The procurement process, under the Provider Selection Regime Wales, signifies an intention to award notice with Parkway Clinic Ltd as the supplier. Representations must be submitted by 9th February 2026, marking the conclusion of the standstill period. The services, classified under the health industry category, are to commence on 1st April 2026 and extend to 31st March 2028, with an award notice dated 29th January 2026. The service location is specified as the Swansea Bay Health Board area in South Wales, UK, underlining its significant regional impact.

This tender presents a unique opportunity for businesses specialising in healthcare services, particularly those with capability in paediatric dental anaesthesia. Given the contract’s specialised nature, it may not be open to new competitors, as Parkway Clinic Ltd remains the existing and sole provider equipped to meet these requirements. However, businesses with similar capabilities or those considering regional expansion could benefit by exploring strategic partnerships with existing providers or NHS entities. The tender, while limited in scope, underscores the importance of qualified staff and specialist facilities, creating a niche market prospect for businesses that are adept in delivering high-standard, healthcare-oriented services. The contractual focus on quality and compliance with national guidelines ensures that organisations capable of meeting these stringent standards have the potential to strengthen their reputation and presence within the healthcare sector.
