## Summary

Swansea University has initiated an open tender process for the procurement of a prototyping pilot-scale Prussian White cathode synthesis with an Agitated Nutsche Filter-Dryer. This project aims to improve the synthesis process for sodium-ion battery cathode materials, scaling from lab-scale to kilo-scale production. The procurement focuses on goods within the industry category of laboratory, optical, and precision equipment. Located in Swansea, the tender process is currently in the tender stage, with all submissions to be made via eTenderwales. The deadline for submission is 20th February 2026, with the award period concluding on 13th March 2026. Interested parties should note that registration on eTenderwales is required to access further details and submit their applications.

This procurement presents significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in laboratory equipment, filtering apparatus, and machinery suitable for scientific and industrial applications. Companies with capabilities in producing specialised filtering and drying machinery, particularly those that can maintain high-quality standards under nitrogen or vacuum conditions, will be well-positioned to compete for this tender. Engaging in this project allows companies not only to secure a partnership with a reputable institution like Swansea University but also to showcase their innovations and expand their market presence in the cutting-edge field of battery material synthesis.

## Notice

The Nutsche filter-dryer will enable us to scale Prussian White cathode active materials synthesis for sodium-ion batteries from lab-scale to kilo-scale pilot production, improving efficiency and validating commercial feasibility. We've scaled from ~35g to ~200g, but current centrifugation is time-consuming and degrades material quality through air exposure. The Agitated Nutsche Filter-Dryer shall enable solid-liquid phase separation as well as washing and drying of powdered product under inert atmosphere or vacuum conditions.NOTE: The authority is using eTenderwales to carry out this procurement process.
