## Summary

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is currently in the award stage of a public procurement process titled "Award of Mini Competition - Body Builds for Aerial Ladder Platforms - Lot 1 Hydraulic Platforms". This procurement seeks to acquire four new Aerial Ladder Platform Appliances to support firefighting and rescue operations in urban areas, with a total allocated budget of £1,682,040. The tender period originally commenced on 12th May 2016 and concluded on 11th May 2019. The buying organisation is based in Inverness, Scotland, and this procurement falls under the category of goods, specifically within the commercial vehicles sector.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses in the manufacturing and supply of emergency vehicles, particularly those specialising in aerial ladder platforms or other firefighting apparatus. Companies with experience in producing high-reach appliances that adhere to UK specifications would be well-suited to compete in this procurement. The focus on modernising the fleet provides scope for innovative solutions, potentially benefiting suppliers that enhance vehicle safety and operational efficiency within the sector.

## Notice

A standard fire appliance carries a number of ladders with a maximum reach to the 4th floor of most buildings. Dedicated 'high reach' appliances are used to address the need for firefighting and rescue in the taller buildings that are common in urban environments. There are a number of 'high reach' appliances available across Scotland; however some of these have been in service for a number of years and are approaching the end of their operational life. Therefore a replacement strategy has commenced with the purchase of 4 new chassis to be built as high reach appliances. These will be distributed as necessary to replace older appliances as they reach 'end of life'.The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) require the supply and construction of an initial four (4) Aerial Ladder Platform Appliances (ALP's) to be fully built and delivered by the end of Financial Year March 2017. The appliances must comply with the manufacturer's current standard UK specification and conform to the requirements identified in the Invitation to Mini Competition Document. This process is calling off from the Consortium Fire and Rescue Aerial Appliance Framework Lot 1 Hydraulic Platforms for Firefighting - Framework Reference: CFR1000/AA/XX.
