The contract was let under the Procurement Scotland Framework. The contract is due to expire on 31 December 2016 after we took up the option to extend by a further year in 2015. Due to circumstances outside the control of HES, the replacement arrangements to provide these services will not be in place until after 31 December 2016. The service currently provided under the IT Managed Service contract will form part of the shared service provision with Scottish Government and Scottish Natural Heritage which was also driven by the requirement to solution a new network for HES and the migration of users and systems to SWAN. The current IS Team has recently undertaken and completed a complex project to move staff from the Scottish Government SCOTS network to a new HES network environment. Alongside that has been the need to resource and structure an in-house team to deliver an internal service function for IS. The timeframe for reviewing the Atos service provisions and determining a way forward to a managed and successful outcome is around a minimum of 12 months and we are beyond that period. HES want to give careful and measured consideration to the right solution for managing the services outlined above, including what arrangement is best placed to ensure that we achieve resilient and secure functionality which provides the best value for money. Given the above, Historic Environment Scotland are proposing to extend the IT Managed Service contract with Atos as being the only viable option by 12 months to 31 December 2017.
