## Summary

The Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body is initiating a procurement process for high level fabric maintenance, rope access, and landscaping services, with a total estimated value of £9,300,000. This procurement falls under the planning stage and aims to cover various maintenance activities of the buildings located at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh, including both internal and external maintenance, cleaning, and landscaping. Important dates to note include the bidders' conference on 27 and 28 February 2017, with a contract award date planned for 29 June 2017. The procurement will follow an open procedure and is expected to last for five years, with the possibility of two one-year extensions at the discretion of the contracting authority.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in high level maintenance and landscaping services, particularly those with expertise in rope access operations. Companies that are accredited members of the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) and those able to meet the required health and safety standards will be well-positioned to compete. The commitment to including social enterprises and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) highlights the potential for community engagement and tailored service delivery in this tender, making it a beneficial opportunity for businesses focused on growth and innovation in the public sector.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

Planned Preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive and minor change works activities to be undertaken on the internal and external building fabric including hard and soft landscaping and bird pest control. Due to the design and complexity of this building much of the fabric maintenance is only accessible via rope access. It is considered the highest risk work activity that is undertaken on site, and it is therefore mandatory to have a specialist contractor who reports directly to Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body (SPCB) staff whose primary focus is high level work, and is an organisation who is an accredited member of the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) which minimises the risk to individuals and the business.. IRATA is the internationally recognised standard and qualification for Rope Access operatives and organisations. It encompasses all the industry relevant European and International Standards for equipment, health and safety, training, quality management and quality assurance.
