## Summary

The Scottish Prison Service is initiating a procurement process for the construction of the "Women's National Facility - Stirling," a major project aimed at enhancing the custody of women in Scotland. Located on the site of HMP & YOI Cornton Vale, this facility will accommodate 80 women requiring more intensive management. The procurement is currently in the planning stage, with a planned contract notice to be published on 8 May 2017. The project is classified under the "works" category and will follow a Restricted procedure, focusing on delivering a Level 2 BIM project with community benefits requirements.

This tender presents significant business opportunities, particularly for contractors specialising in construction and facility management. Companies experienced in design and build projects, as well as those knowledgeable in delivering compliant and community-focused services, would be well-suited to compete for this contract. The integration of health, education, and wellness facilities in the new national centre further expands potential for suppliers of associated services, creating a holistic approach to reoffending reduction in the region.

## Notice

In June 2015 the Cabinet Secretary for Justice Michael Matheson announced that a new 80 place national facility will be created on the existing site of HMP & YOI Cornton Vale. This facility will be for women who are assessed as potentially requiring more intensive management and supervision. It is a central part of the new strategy concerning the custody of women in Scotland. The national facility will provide a range services that aim to reduce reoffending through person centred approaches that are age and gender specific, within a safe and secure environment. The services will include: a health centre serviced by Forth Valley Health Board; education facilities for teaching and developing life skills; outdoor areas and a gymnasium to promote healthy living and fitness; and a quiet area for contemplation where women can also attend faith services.
