## Summary

The recent procurement process initiated by Clackmannanshire Council involves the award of a Quick Step service aimed at supporting personal care during the winter months, specifically from 9 January 2017 to 31 March 2017. This tender falls under the services category, particularly targeting adults and older people's services. The process is currently at the award stage, with a total contract value of £29,097.60. The service is designed to provide responsive care to individuals being discharged from hospital, with a focus on facilitating timely interventions within a 24-hour period following referral.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for businesses specialising in care services, particularly those with capabilities in short-duration personal care deliveries. Companies that operate within the care at home framework, especially those experienced in providing rapid response services for hospital discharges, would be well-positioned to compete. Additionally, organisations looking to expand their service offerings in community care or enhance their existing partnerships with local authorities could find significant growth prospects by engaging in this procurement process.

## Notice

Clackmannanshire Council would like to request a quote from their existing Care at Home framework providers to deliver a Quick Step service for the winter months, from 9 January 2017 to 31 March 2017. If operationally possible, an earlier start date could be agreed between the Council and the successful Provider. The service will operate for 16 hours a day, 7 days a week from 7am to 11pm.This service will facilitate 'stepping down' from hospital services and help avoid people 'stepping up' as hospital admissions. It is envisaged that a substantial element of the service is likely to be for people who have been assessed as ready to be discharged from hospital, or are otherwise entering the care system following a crisis. The Quick Step service will provide personal care to service users by giving a high level of care providing short visits to service users' homes. This service will be an additional service to the existing care at home framework service and, in the main, to support planned discharges from hospital. The service will be characterised by the quick, responsive interventions required within 24 hours of referral. The Quick Step service will provide timely personal care and keep Social Services more fully informed on the care needs of the individuals in receipt of this service. Each individual will likely receive a maximum of 2/3 weeks of visits which are intended to promote confidence on the part of service users by providing a quality pathway out of hospital. The service to the individual may, in some instances, be extended after agreement with Social Services.
