## Summary

The procurement process is led by Historic Environment Scotland for the project titled "Award of Holyrood Park Lodge Refurbishment," located near the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh. This project falls under the works category, specifically focusing on building repairs. The tender period commenced on 13 March 2017 and concluded on 21 April 2017. The project seeks to rejuvenate a mid-19th century lodge through the removal of dated finishes, insulation improvement, window upgrades, and sympathetic re-decoration to maintain the building's historical integrity. The procurement method used for this engagement is a tender, with the award granted for approximately £65,942.80 to James Normand & Son.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for construction and renovation businesses, particularly those with expertise in historical building restoration, insulation technologies, and sustainable materials. Companies that specialise in heritage conservation, building repairs, or sustainable construction practices would find themselves well-positioned to compete in such projects. The focus on maintaining the lodge's historical character, while implementing modern upgrades, creates a niche for skilled artisans and contractors experienced in traditional methods and environmentally sensitive solutions.

## Notice

Holyrood Park Lodge is a mid-19th century lodge house, immediately to the east of the Scottish Parliament building, at the north entrance to Holyrood Park. This package of works involve the careful removal and downtaking of dated finishes and decor, insulation to suspended timber floor, cavity wall insulation and window upgrades. Re-decoration will use materials sympathetic to the age of the building whilst maintaining appropriate breathability and creating additional passive ventilation with the re-instatement of two original fireplaces. Display hatches will be created in a number of wall and floor sections, as this will be a publically accessible interpretation space promoting the use of appropriate insulating materials in traditional buildings.
