This Brief will form part the formal Contract between Aberdeenshire Council (hereinafter referred to as "the Employer") and the Consultant appointed to undertake the Flood Protection Studies (Stage1) for Ballater.The successful organisation chosen by the Employer from the tendering process must comply with all of the requirements set out in this tender specification.Ballater is located in West Aberdeenshire, Scotland. National Grid Reference NO 37100 95600.The Potentially Vulnerable Area (06/22) is based around Ballater and is approximately 7km2.The area is located within the Cairngorms National Park and the A93 passes through it.The main river is the River Dee, which is a Special Area of Conservation for salmon, otters and freshwater pearl mussels.There are approximately 200 residents and 40 non-residential properties at risk of flooding as per the LFRMP and PVA standard assessment methodology.The Annual Average Damages are approximately PS230,000. Almost all the damages are caused by river flooding. 99% River, 1% Surface water.
