## Summary

The Forestry Commission is the buying organisation for the tender titled "The Chemical Treatment of Trees through the Electrodyn Treatment Plant - West Argyll Forest District." This procurement falls under the environmental protection industry category and is located at Cairnbaan, Lochgilphead, within the West Argyll Forest District. Currently, the tender process is at the award stage, with the contract having been signed on 17 October 2017. The contract is valued at £120,000 and is expected to involve the treatment of approximately 2 million trees, utilising Electrodyn machines that can process 25,000 to 30,000 trees per day. The operational period for service delivery typically spans from January to May each year, with a contract completion date set for September 2020.

This tender presents significant opportunities for growth, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with expertise in environmental services or forestry management. Businesses that are capable of handling large volumes of work and can respond flexibly to changing demands based on weather conditions would be well-suited to compete. The arrangement is designed to encourage competition among smaller suppliers, given that multiple lots are available and the number of lots awarded to a single supplier is limited, enhancing access for burgeoning firms in the sector.
