This procurement is for the provision of radiocarbon dating of an estimated 150 to 300 archaeological and related palaeoenvironmental samples per year. It is expected that there will be a collaborative research element involving us, archaeological groups working on projects sponsored or paid for by us, and the Supplier. It is also expected that all of the samples submitted will be at a macroscopic level. The contract also includes provision of advice to Historic Environment Scotland and /or the sample submitter on the selection of samples and the interpretation of the results. It is essential that expertise in Bayesian statistics is included in this provision.

Renewal: After the end of the initial 36 month period HES will consider whether an extension of up to 12 months will be used.
