The purpose of this procurement exercise was to replace the existing diagnostic imaging X-Ray equipment with a new Digital Radiography (DR) system to reflect the external service environment in which students will practice and be employed upon graduation. The equipment will play an essential role in the learning experience of students undertaking the BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Imaging and to a lesser extent the BSc (Hons) Radiotherapy and Oncology programmes. The equipment will prepare students for their practice placement experience by equipping them with the knowledge, skills and confidence to safely and effectively undertake diagnostic imaging examinations and understand the physical principals of ionising radiation and how it interacts with the human tissue and the environment.
