## Summary

The National Galleries of Scotland is currently engaged in a public procurement process for the "Rolling Audience Research Tender," aimed at conducting quantitative research on its visitors. This contract, valued between £140,000 and £170,000, is set to last three years, commencing from 1 April 2018 to 31 March 2021. The main procurement method is selective through a restricted procedure. The project's delivery locations include the Scottish National Gallery, Scottish National Portrait Gallery, and the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, all situated in Edinburgh. Key deadlines include the tender submission cut-off on 6 October 2017, with interviews anticipated on 11 December 2017.

This procurement presents substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in audience research, market analysis, and visitor engagement strategies, particularly those with a focus on arts and culture sectors. Firms equipped with innovative methodologies and a strong portfolio in delivering audience insights to arts organisations will be particularly suitable. As the contract seeks to build understanding from visitor feedback, businesses that can deliver robust analysis and demonstrate prior experience in similar environments should position themselves to compete effectively in this tendering process.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

INTRODUCTION The National Galleries of Scotland proudly displays collection artworks and exhibitions in three locations in Edinburgh - the Scottish National Gallery (SNG), the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art (SNGMA), and the Scottish National Portrait Gallery (SNPG). Brief: SERVICE REQUIRED The National Galleries of Scotland (NGS) currently has a rolling Audience Research provider. This contract will expire on 31 March 2018. NGS therefore invites Tenders (PCS Document ID: 506379) from providers for a three year Audience Research contract that will run from 1 April 2018 to 31 March 2021, to conduct audience research of its visitors (and ideally non-visitors). The contract is expected to be between 140,000GBP and 170,000GBP in total for the three year period. NGS has gone from 1.28m visitors in 2010 to over 2.4m in 2017 - a remarkable growth of over 1m visitors in under ten years. NGS has a visitor counting system in place to record visitor numbers but requires an Audience Research provider to bring insight and analysis about these visitors to provide visitor (and non-visitor) feedback and needs, support organisational KPIs, special projects and inform organisation-wide strategy. NGS may have additional qualitative or quantitative audience research needs but these are as yet undefined and will not be in the scope for this Tender. If and when additional audience research needs are identified there would not be an automatic award. Current methodology utilises face to face visitor exit surveys interviews at Gallery sites but NGS seeks to understand a provider's recommendations on how best to do this via on and offline channels as well as their recommended methodologies and whether and how to capture non-visitors. We are seeking to appoint a provider that will have a clear understanding of NGS and its needs and provide a clear and robust methodology, meet all data capture requirements and provide thorough and clear analysis and insight.. Economic operators may be excluded from this competition if they are in any of the situations referred to in regulation 57 of the Public Contracts (Scotland) Regulations 2015. All shortlisted bidders will be invited to interview. It is currently anticipated that interviews will take place in Edinburgh on Monday 11 December 2017, although this date may be subject to change.
