## Summary

The University of St Andrews is seeking design services for a Scattered Light Integrating Collector (SLIC) under an open tender process. This procurement falls within the education sector and is located in St Andrews, UK. The tender period concludes on 15th September 2017, coinciding with the bid opening date and the start of the award period. Interested parties are prompted to submit their proposals electronically through the designated portal.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses specialising in innovative design and engineering services, particularly those with experience in medical technologies and laboratory equipment. Companies capable of contributing to the development of rapid clinical testing devices will find this procurement aligned with their capabilities, especially those that can assist in advancing the next iteration of the SLIC prototypes. With a contract period spanning 180 days, competitors are encouraged to leverage this chance to showcase their expertise in delivering sophisticated design solutions in the education and healthcare sectors.

## Notice

The Gillespie Research Group have been developing a Scattered Light Integrating Collector (SLIC) for 2 years and progressed through six separate prototypes. The founding technology is subject to patent applications (WO2016/128747) and is under development as a rapid clinical laboratory testing device for antibiotic susceptibility testing (AST) to address the global threat provided by antibacterial resistance. In November 2016 the R&D team won a Longitude Discovery Award (https://longitudeprize.org/blog-post/winners-discovery-awards) one of only 12 to be awarded internationally. Recently the team was awarded additional funding for the further development and prototyping of an enhanced, closer to market, SLIC device.

Recently the team was awarded additional funding for the further development and prototyping of an enhanced, closer to market, SLIC device. Designed by the research team with external assistance, and built by an external contractor, our most recent SLIC prototype (v6) is our first multi-well benchtop machine. We are now ready to progress to the next iteration of the multi-well design; learning from experience gained from previous devices, we need an ambitious design house to help design and to build our next prototypes (SLIC v7).
