The Scottish Government has awarded a contract for the "Fair Start Scotland-Lot ‘West’ - Employability Support Services", focusing on providing tailored employment support services in the West of Scotland, covering areas such as East Renfrewshire, Renfrewshire, East Dunbartonshire, West Dunbartonshire, and Inverclyde. The procurement method employed was an open procedure, and the contract was signed on 30th October 2017. The initiative primarily targets unemployed disabled individuals and those on reserved benefits to assist them in finding and retaining employment. It is part of the broader devolution of employment support governed by the Scotland Act 2016.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses, particularly those specialised in employability and support services for vulnerable populations. Companies with a focus on community engagement, social enterprises, and those led by or employing individuals from disadvantaged groups may find themselves well-suited to compete. The emphasis on developing community benefit plans and opportunities for modern apprenticeships ensures that firms that can demonstrate a commitment to social responsibility and local engagement will be prioritised in this procurement process.
