## Summary

The Equality and Human Rights Commission in Manchester is conducting a tender titled "Research into the representation of equality groups in elected office." This procurement falls under the services category and is currently in the active stage. Potential contractors must submit their bids by 5th December 2017, with a total budget amounting to £60,000. The commission aims to gather comprehensive analyses and evidence regarding the diversity in political candidacy and office representation, focusing on promoting equality and understanding barriers to participation in line with the Equality Act 2010.

This tender presents significant business opportunities for research firms specialising in political representation, equality studies, or data analysis. Companies that can demonstrate expertise in conducting comprehensive social research and those capable of collaborating in consortia will be ideally positioned to compete for this contract. Additionally, firms experienced in exploring international best practices in electoral inclusivity and evidence-based recommendations for enhancing diversity within political offices will find themselves at a competitive advantage in this procurement process.

## Notice

We want to have a clearer understanding of the existing evidence base and gaps in relation to the diversity of candidates and elected politicians. We have three research opportunities and potential contractors can apply for one, two or all three lots. Potential contractors can apply individually or as part of a consortium bid. The research reports will provide the Commission with: - Comprehensive an analysis of existing data on the diversity of national and local politicians in Britain - Evidence of action taken in other countries to create conditions to improve the representation of underrepresented groups in elected office and how successful these have been and, - Evidence of barriers to political participation that are linked to political party structures, processes and the support provided and are linked to the protected characteristics in the Equality Act 2010.
