Achieving this goal requires a partner who can provide: (1) Immediate and unfettered access to a sufficient body of electronic lexicons, dialect surveys, comparative dictionaries, and word lists for languages in the Asia-Pacific region. Raw warehouse content should be on the order of about 1,000 items per language for about 1,000 languages, more or less evenly distributed among the language families of the region; (2) The linguistic expertise necessary to phonologically and semantically normalise the data sources in order to enable valid comparisons between languages and datasets.
