## Summary

The City of Edinburgh Council is planning a tender for the "Emergency Mental Health Support - Children & Young People" service, under the services industry category. The objective is to appoint an agency capable of providing urgent support to young individuals facing life-threatening behaviours. The service is intended to be delivered throughout the City of Edinburgh, with a projected value of £200,000 over a ten-year period. Key dates include the communication of a future notice on 22nd December 2017. Interested parties are encouraged to register for additional information via the Public Contracts Scotland website.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in mental health services, particularly those with experience in crisis management for young people. Companies that are well-prepared to offer 24/7 support with qualified mental health professionals, including registered nurses and support workers, will be ideally suited to compete. The ability to demonstrate a proven track record and relevant expertise is crucial, making this an ideal opportunity for established providers in the mental health sector looking to expand their service offerings.

## Notice

The City of Edinburgh Council has a requirement to appoint and contract a named agency who are able to support young people who are suicidal, self-harming or involved in any other life threatening behaviour to enable them to remain at home or in their care setting. This service will respond to the young person within their home environment (parental home or other care setting) offering face to face support within two hours of referral, until the risk has reduced - this can be between 1-5 days. The service will be staffed with registered mental health nurses and mental health support workers to go to the young person's care placement and mitigate any risks. The agency must have a proven track record and relevant expertise and be registered with the care inspectorate and nursing and midwifery Council. This is a recurring requirement; however it is difficult to predict how often the service will be required because of the needs of the young people.
