## Summary

The Scottish Land Commission is seeking solutions through the tender titled "Increasing the Availability of Farmland for New Entrants to Agriculture in Scotland." This project, categorised under research services, aims to review barriers to farming entry and enhance land availability for new agricultural entrants in Scotland. The procurement process is currently at the award stage, with the contract signed on 19 January 2018 for an active period. The tender remains significant as it aligns with ongoing land reform initiatives in the United Kingdom, particularly in the Inverness region.

This contract presents an opportunity for businesses focused on agricultural consultancy, land management, and reform consultancy services. Companies with expertise in agricultural practices, joint venture models, and land accessibility strategies are well-suited to contribute to this initiative. The tender provides a platform for business growth by encouraging innovative models that enhance land use for new entrants, thus potentially revitalising the agricultural sector in Scotland.

The guidance should include all joint venture options currently available such as different tenancy types, share farming and contract farming. The pros and cons of each should be specified alongside taxation implications. c) Identify barriers to succession and retirement. Contractors should investigate farmers opinions on succession and retirement. d) Define a methodology to produce a baseline against which success on increasing the availability of farmland for new entrants might be measured.
