### Procurement Information

At present the recycling market is very volatile and it is not deemed to be appropriate to undertake a new tendering process at this time. There are several issues making the marketplace volatile, China withdrawing its services of taking the world's recycling, marketplace not willing to take ownership of waste in case they are unable to recycle it and Fife contamination levels are not attractive to the marketplace. The Council conducted market research and is currently undertaking an internal review to minimise contamination levels. Companies known to the Council and Fife Resource Solutions were contacted to appoint a Company willing to undertake the services for a 6 month trial period, with the option of an extension if deemed necessary.
