## Summary

The Shetland Islands Council (Utilities) has initiated a public procurement process for the "Provision of Marine Electrical and Mechanical Services," aimed at maintaining and servicing assets across various maritime port locations in Shetland, including the Sullom Voe Oil Terminal. This open tender, classified under port-related activities in the services industry, was last active as of 26 March 2018, with the anticipated contract duration starting in July 2018 and spanning up to eight years, dependent on extension options. Interested businesses had to submit electronic bids by the specified deadline, demonstrating compliance with specific operational criteria, including 24/7 service capability.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in marine electrical and mechanical services, particularly those familiar with the strict regulations and operational demands of petrochemical environments. Companies with capabilities in providing continuous service and strong emergency response systems, alongside proven experience in similar contracts, would be especially well-suited to compete. The framework agreement allows for a single supplier, emphasising the importance of reliability and quality in delivery, which could encourage long-lasting partnerships with the council in future projects.
