## Summary

The Scottish Borders Council is planning a tender for the redevelopment and expansion of the Jim Clark Museum in Duns, located in Berwickshire, UK. This project aims to create a larger facility that celebrates the life and career of former world champion racing driver Jim Clark. The procurement process is currently in the planning stage, with tenders expected to be issued on 26th March 2018, and a contract completion anticipated by March 2019. The estimated construction budget is £850,000, and the main procurement category is classified as works.

This project presents a significant opportunity for businesses in the construction and renovation industry, particularly those with experience in restoring historical buildings and museum facilities. Companies specialising in civil engineering, architecture, and interior design would be well suited to compete for this contract. Engaging in this procurement could not only enhance a firm's portfolio but also contribute positively to the local community by revitalising a key cultural asset in the Scottish Borders.

## Notice

### Lot Information

Lot 1

This project is for the delivery of a redeveloped and expanded museum reflecting the life and career of former world champion racing driver Jim Clark who lived in the Scottish Borders. The new facility will redevelop the existing building and create an extension linking it to a disused garage to create a significantly larger museum in the heart of Duns. This will allow the permanent collection to be displayed alongside racing cars and also have space for visiting exhibitions. The overall internal floor area of the new facility will be approximately 400 square metres. The museum is currently housed in a Category B Listed Georgian town house in Duns which, until recently, was also a local area office for Scottish Borders Council. The building is in need of renovation. A stone garage (stables) dating from the same period is adjacent to the museum building and is to be incorporated into the new design by being refurbished and linked to the main building by a new extension. The extension will form the main entrance to the new facility. There will be minor downtakings of outbuildings to create sufficient space for the extension. There will also be significant remodelling of the main building including the removal of the existing staircases, some ground floor walls and the opening of the west and north walls at ground floor level. The building is currently heated by electric night stores. Mains gas is present in the street to the front (south) of the building. The building is served by mains water and drainage. An estimated construction budget of GBP 850,000 has been identified.
