## Summary

The University of Dundee is conducting a procurement process for a tender titled "Flowerpot Sensors," focused on acquiring sensor and app technology designed to monitor plant environment indicators including sunlight, temperature, fertilizer, and moisture. This procurement is categorised under the education industry and falls under the services domain. The process is currently at the Award stage, with the contract signed on 22 March 2018 and covering a delivery period of 1,080 days. The procurement method employed is a limited procedure without prior publication of a call for competition, indicating a targeted sourcing approach due to the unique requirements of the sensors sought.

This tender presents an opportunity for businesses specialising in sensor technologies, environmental monitoring systems, or agricultural tech solutions, particularly those with expertise in Bluetooth-enabled products and data management applications. Competitors who can demonstrate innovative and efficient sensors that meet the outlined specifications will be well-positioned to engage with the University of Dundee's ongoing projects that require delivery to multiple global research sites. This is a substantial opportunity for growth, especially for suppliers with proven capability in providing comprehensive support services alongside their technology offerings.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

15,000 Plant environment sensors & app support monitoring sunlight, temperature, fertilizer and moisture. To be delivered over several call-offs to multiple research sites globally on our behalf.

### Procurement Information

The European Commission are aware of Parrot's request to terminate their Consortium involvement and this is being dealt with by means of a Grant Agreement amendment. We have conducted an assessment of other soil moisture sensors available on the market as the EC suggested and are now very clear that the Parrot sensor, to which we now have exclusive access for GROW, represents the best option for us to deliver the services we need. These include a soil moisture sensor, blue tooth accessibility, a database and app support plus an API that we can use to import data into the GROW data platforms. We have not been able to find another sensor that can do all this. It is also reasonably priced in terms of other products on the market, without these additional services, and the price to GROW includes VAT, storage and distribution throughout the life of the project. We are therefore very clear that the Parrot sensors represents the best value and most efficient and successful way ahead for us.
