Of these, approximately 450 present as traditional burials and the remainder as cremations. East Lothian has a number of cemeteries which are reaching full capacity with limited options for future expansion. The population of East Lothian is projected to grow by about 1% per year over the next 20 years from just over 100,000 to over 125,000 by 2037, with the over 75 years age group expected to grow by almost 100%.
